Visual Response to Literature

Stories have the power to spark curiosity, imagination, empathy, and creativity. In these lessons, students respond to literature through meaningful artmaking experiences that encourage them to think, wonder, design, create, and reflect. Rather than creating projects that simply accompany a book, students use visual art as a way to explore themes, express ideas, solve problems, and make personal connections to what they read. Each lesson is designed to integrate literacy, visual arts, and social-emotional learning while honoring student voice, creativity, and multiple pathways for demonstrating understanding.
